LATE AGAIN

These shoes are so distinctive it seems a shame to distract from them, hence the simple attire. I don't always dress from the ground up but I'll frequently scrap an entire outfit if the shoes don't work with it. I would say clothes and shoe worries are probably my only cause of lateness in the morning - a minor wibble can send me into a girlie tail spin.

BICESTER VILLAGE BLOWOUT

I went to Bicester Village on Tuesday. I know. Dangerous. But I was about to start a new job and a treat was in order. 

I've never been to an outlet shopping centre in the UK before, only ones in Italy and the US. I thought it might not be as good as my previous experiences abroad, partly because when I'm away I'm always dealing with a currency that isn't 'real money' so I tend to convert wildly inaccurately (and therefore massively over spend in an accidentally on purpose kind of way). 

Turns out when you go to an outlet shop in the UK the comparisons you make are along the line of "Shit, this is pretty much what a pair of shoes in Topshop cost these days", which is not even that much of a delusion...I picked up Marni shoes for £61 and £78 respectively. I won't go into the Church's, but in Katy math they TOTALLY made sense, after all they're made with such detail the size isn't stamped on the sole, it's hand written on the inside *faints with pleasure*.

Natalia Vodianova and the case of the velvet slippers

Natalia Vodianova is without a doubt a beautiful woman. But over the past few years the thing that has always struck me about her have been her most excellent shoe choices. Always practical, chic and unexpected - she is a bit of a shoe muse for me. It started in a lovely family photo shoot for Vogue a few years ago when she wore a pair of lace up jazz shoes / brogues with a ball dress that had me searching for something similar for yonks - dainty yet dressy - these shoes were a marvel.


Then, a little while back Hanneli snapped her in a new pair of beautiful shoes outside the Paris (I think, the site is down?) fashion shows. This time it was slippers, you know the velvet type, the likes of which are usually found on the feet of very rich men as they trot off to the drawing room for a cigar. I later found out they cost OVER A THOUSAND POUNDS from Tom Ford. That's why they're only seen on rich men...these puppies are pricey...Marks and Sparks they are not.

After much searching for an alternative I have decided the Office version look too cheap, the Tom Ford's are too expensive (duh), the Jimmy Choo leopard print would be fab but are sold out worldwide and the Church's ones are ideal but at £210 might have to wait until the residual guilt of my latest Selfridges shopping spree wears off (oh crap, it might never wear off, I've been pretty f-ing bad, I can't even post what I bought because then it becomes real. Pants, pants, pants). 

Aren't these nice Church's slippers? Am thinking tailored black trousers, white silk shirt, oversized grey cashmere cardie. I would need a silk shirt and cashmere cardie to do this, however. 

Friday Happy Shoes

It's a Friday, which should be a cause of celebration. Instead, on this Friday my country is facing a hung parliament with a Conservative government, so I'm a bit bummed (although not surprised). 


I'm trying to cheer myself up by looking at old photos, and I came across this picture of my friend S's wonderful, wonderful Church's gold and silver brogues that I've mentioned before. Are they not bone tinglingly beautiful? Sadly I didn't get to see her last night at my mini election party / glum-in, because Milan has stolen her.
