FAT DRESS

Post Christmas, post LA, I've returned to the real world and am feeling VERY porky. It should all balance out in a couple of weeks with less booze, fewer meals out and more running but still, this H&M cocoon dress I purchased in the sale for £15 has come in handy for disguising some of the chub.

I've had my eye on this since it came out in stores but it was running at £34.99 which I thought was a tad too expensive for what it was, essentially a one season copy of the Jil Sander rtw A/W 2011 print and silhouette, that would probably not make into next year's wardrobe...that is unless it's chub hiding properties are needed for longer than expected.

SUMMER IS GONE

It doesn't feel like Summer at all in London these days. I haven't worn even 1/10th of my Summer dresses (working in a basement doesn't help put you in the mood, it must be said) and it doesn't look they'll get an airing this year - unless I run away to Australia or Fiji. Which I won't be doing because I'm contracted until December. I do like Autumn and Winter clothes, I just don't like short days and cold feet.

Jil Sander Floral Print Skirt

I am in love with the print on this Jil Sander skirt, £490 from Net A Porter. Just looking at it makes me want to have a cream tea in the garden.

Raf Simons for Jil Sander - Colour Block Clash Pant Suits

OBSESSION.

Jil Sander's latest collection (S/S 2011) designed by Raf Simons was a favourite if the latest magazine photoshoots are to be believed. So far the skirts seem to be getting the editorial treatment all over the shop, after all, they look great on 6 foot gazelles. But normal women like myself do not need a bubble of fabric around the hips, so those skirts and tee shirt combos are out. The bright pant suits and lean tailoring however are so in. I am dying to wear these colours.

I am salivating at these pictures. I think I need a tailor.

Unhappy Outfits

I'm not mad keen on this outfit or these pictures...but I'm posting them anyway.

I don't think this outfit works, and I didn't feel comfortable in it. For a start, whilst I love this jacket the rounded cut of the shoulders does nothing for me - my Mum often nicks this jacket, I think next time she does I'll let her keep it. I'm also not great with earrings. Studs I can do, hoops like this, not so much. I felt like I wasn't me. If I cut of the metal bit that goes through the ear I'll be left with two claw rings instead (I've tried, they fit well and look great like that), so I think they'll get butchered this weekend.

The only thing I was truly happy with were my nails, but just my left hand (I couldn't get my left hand steady enough to do my right, oh to be ambidextrous).

The Random Outfit Post

It is pretty chilly in my house right now. The temperature outside is dropping and the central heating is playing up (why does it do this every year, no matter where I may be living?). No heating = wearing sweatpants in the non Alexander Wang way and lots of shawls / blankets to perfect my 'derelict' look. The derelict look also means no up to date outfits to post (unless you counted it as an early Halloween outfit), so here are some old ones that were worn in happier, sunnier times. Sigh.

This is my confession...I am a shoe addict

I have a confession.

From Sunday 14th through to Saturday 20th I managed to acquire 6 new pairs of shoes:

  • New Look dusky blue low heeled sandals (thinking: Australia, but still able to walk and at £16 I can get them dusty and beat up)
  • New Look camel wedge desert boots (sooooo comfy, they will be my staple)
  • Louise Goldin for Topshop black spiky stud courts (I die)
  • Topshop flat elastic strap sandals (again, Australia but remind me of Marni flats)
  • Jil Sander white peep toe wedges (from a discount shop)
  • Charity shop yellow low heeled jazz shoes from the 80's (technically fun, but not sure now)
This is VERY naughty of me and I must be punished.

But I will also lay some of the blame on the shoe floor of New Look, Oxford Street (the in the old Borders building). The shoe floor is massive and whilst many of the ultra high heels look cheap as old boots, the camel wedges especially were too tempting to resist. I thank you New Look. And Topshop, your Louise Goldin shoes are a thing of beauty, I feel like a warrior from rad girlsville out to eliminate all from my path...rather a good feeling on a cold rainy day.
