HIGH STREET HEROES

After a bit of a blue day yesterday there was nothing for it but to bust out the most girly and unashamedly fun dress in my wardrobe.

And I lucked out with these Zara wedges which I'd been lusting over all Summer. They are more than a little reminiscent of the Chanel flatforms from S/S 11, but were £99 - still a little pricey for high street shoes (especially impractical high street shoes). In the Zara sale I've seen them in multiple stores around London, but only ever in a 38 or 40 and cursed my rotten luck. Then I walked past Zara in Covent Garden the other day to check out the new season stuff (soooo good) but also cast an eye over the dregs of the sale, and behold! A pair in a 39, now reduced to £29.99. It was shoe fate.

Print Overload

I've been meaning to try and pair these two prints for some time now. I snapped up this t-shirt in the Housing Works $1 sale back in September because it immediately reminded me of the brown and black jersey skirt I had at home - I thought the mismatched prints might work well together. Once they were on the only way to go was by layering on even more prints to create a look that I like to think tips it's hat at Marni and maybe even DVN. I think this my favourite outfit in quite a while...

Charity Shop Heaven

One of my best charity shop buys ever was this vintage Jaeger jacket for £10.99. I love the fabric, the detail, the cut. It's just perfect.

The Joy Of Thrift

This skirt epitomises what I love about charity shopping - that you not only find crazy stuff, but crazy cheap stuff. This skirt is clearly homemade and fashioned out of a very heavy fabric that is probably for curtains, not dressmaking. At $25 there was no way I'd usually buy a skirt this loud, but for $1 on sale I had to have it, if only to experiment with for a little while. Not sure about wearing it out...instead thinking cushion covers would be more appropriate because there's a hell of lot of fabric...my Mum reckons I could cover a sofa.
