Dries Van Noten Days

Earlier in the week I tried on some of the Dries Van Noten A/W 10 collection in Liberty that is now in the sale. I have mentioned a few times before just how much I loved this particular collection - the military green, rich patterns, layering, leopard print. Sadly, or perhaps thankfully, none of the sale items left looked that good on - I'm not spending £250  on a designer jacket if it does nothing for me, ditto trousers. But since that changing room incident I have been feeling wistful for Dries. It was then that I remembered buying this Dries skirt in the summer for $25 in a thrift store and I set to work with it as the basis of my outfit on Sunday - a print overload with a bit of Army green thrown in.

RODARTE X NICHOLAS KIRKWOOD or are they H&M???

Well, they're H&M, obviously. Because a) the Nicholas Kirkwood pair would set me back £1030 and b) if I'm going to buy 'zany' shoes you can bet your bottom dollar they'll be cheap. I can't really see the point in flashing the cash if what you're buying won't date well (like my Helmut Lang skirt yesterday, or the Tods I bought in college that I still wear). Still, for under £25 I can play around with colour, as there is something perversely attractive a shoe that has so much going on all over the place. I still can't figure out if they are ugly beautiful or just plain ugly. Or if I even care when there's so much to look at.

What do you think of the, er, 'tribute' shoe? Are the too cheap for words? Could you ever stomach spending over a grand on the real ones pictured below?
