TEENAGE KICKS

Can you remember the 90s?

For those of you that can't, it was all the rage back then to wear a short sleeved t shirt over a long sleeved one. It wasn't a style I particularly embraced but this outfit feels like a modern reworking of that era, what with the long sleeved / short sleeved bits and boots with integrated socks. I even felt a bit stroppy and stompy at work in this and not altogether comfortable. An uncannily accurate summing up of my youth.

LONDON ZOO LATES

On Friday night I went to the London Zoo Lates, so I felt the need to dress in my animal related finery. About 20 minutes after the doors opened it began to rain and continued to piss it down for the rest of the night, so the whole zoo experience was a bit of a washout, but at least we got to see a few beasties (ace frogs, otters, meerkats, a submerged pygmy hippo and a grumpy gorilla).

I do love London Zoo, but perhaps not on a very wet Friday night when I was already pooped from a busy week at work and just wanted to be able to walk around and enjoy it all without ruining my beige Chanel pumps. I think you can tell it wasn't just the gorilla that was grumpy, eh?

GRUNGE

The leather jacket / hoodie combo makes me feel like I should be an extra in a 90's chick flick like Reality Bites or Singles, although I think I would have plumped for an actual granny slip underneath rather than a proper dress, in an attempt to become Courtney Love and somehow worm my way towards Kurt.

Deyrolle for Opening Ceremony

I know Alexa Chung is horrendously over exposed when it comes to fashion, but you have to hand it her, girl knows how to dress. I am obsessed with this Deyrolle for Opening Ceremony number. Deyrolle is a taxidermy / curiosity shop in Paris that is famed for its array of wild and wonderful creatures, so a fox print makes such perfect sense. I went to Paris with the hope of visiting Deyrolle once about 3 years ago and the week before I was due to go it burned down. How sad was I?

This dress is silk. I have already got something all the way down it (Melody Pops are dangerous). One day of wear for a £10 - £15 dry cleaning bill. Smashing.

Suno Print Trousers

All images from Opening Ceremony

I'm not averse to a bit of colour in my wardrobe, which is probably why I am majorly lusting over these Suno pants from the Opening Ceremony sale. The zig zags with the clashing floral trim are a match made in loud trouser heaven.
