MARKUS LUPFER JUMPER

Markus Lupfer is right up my street. It is quite clear that I could never say 'No' to a jumper with a sequin pattern of a cat and dog in a Christmas style wreath, right?

GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI THIGH HIGH BOOTS

My blue sparkly cuban heeled Giuseppe Zanotti ankle boots are probably my shoe of the year. Nabbed in the Barneys sale back in Jan / Feb at the beginning of the year, they have become my go to boot. Comfortable enough to spend all day on your feet, sleek enough to feel dressed up and with the right amount of disco to put a spring in your step.

When I saw a similar boot, thigh high with an identical heel and foot shape, on Yoox.com I knew I had to have them. Thigh high could be a bit street walker but with a 1 and half inch heel they don't feel that way. In fact I managed to go out on Saturday night in these and only had my friend notice I was wearing them after about 2 hours they are so under the radar.

VELVET

Love a bit of velvet in my winter wardrobe...but there's a girl my office who has a velvet phobia. She backs away from me in fear and will be doing so quite often over the next couple of months...from velvet coats to tops, dresses to shoes, I have a lot of the stuff going on right now.

CHEAP JEWELLERY TRAUMA

Am I the only one in the world who can't seem to keep a piece of Topshop / ASOS / New Look jewellery together for more than a week? In the 25 minutes between taking these photos and getting to work my skeleton was missing a leg.

CLOWNING

I never get the obsession over seasons when it comes to the High Street. I get the designer season thing but when I hear people say things like "I could never shop at T.K.Maxx because it's all last season" I just think, WTF? What does it matter if jeans, a white t shirt or a cardie are this season or last? What does it matter what season anything is as long as you like it?

I only bought this top because it reminded me of clowns. Simple as that. I doubt it was ever 'in fashion' nor of a particular moment and I couldn't give a hoot if it was last, this or next season's look. Sometimes I just want to dress like a children's entertainer.

A MEETING OF MINDS

Last week I had a very important meeting and getting dressed for it caused a total headache. What should you wear when you're trying to convince a fashion company that you know what you're talking about when it comes to your industry without looking too try hard, but at the same time letting them know you understand their business and can represent their best interests?

I'd already worn the trousers and blazer during the week, so they got the vote from my friends as something I genuinely wear that they felt made a statement without screaming "me, me, me". Then it was just a professional looking shirt, boots I could walk in and a bag big enough to pop the presentation in - plus a swanky notebook I've been saving for just such a fashion forward occasion.

HENRY A LA PENSEE KNITTED JACKET WITH CUPID BUTTONS

Do you ever buy something because there's a detail about you just love? I almost didn't buy this knitted jacket / cardigan as I knew I had spent too much money on my trip to New York already, but just standing in the thrift store with it I could already picture the intense regret in my mind if I walked away from it.

I mean, who can resist a cupid button...

Turns out the $125 vintage jacket was in the half off sale, so I got it for $62. When I returned home I tried googling the designer and although there isn't much about them, turns out they were active from the 1930s until the 1950s. My jacket is in perfect condition, not bad for an item of clothing that probably getting on for 60 years old, eh? It fits like a dream, the buttons lift it from classic to quirky and there is even a gold chain sewn into the hem on the back to keep the lines clean. I die.

SHEER STRIPES

Everyone seemed to love my purse necklace yesterday. Optician, woman in Boots...it went down well. My bad news is that my optician says I have to wear glasses for TWO WHOLE WEEKS because I have "cell build up under your eyelids". Gutted.

BUSY BUSY BUSY

Thursday was pretty hectic. I finally caved and accepted that I needed a cleaner. She arrived early as I was taking my outfit pictures, and I was too embarrassed to take any more after she arrived, so my photos today are a bit pants.

After work I headed over to the Christopher Kane sample sale, queued for nearly 90 minutes and finally got my hands on a hoodie from the galaxy print cruise collection (a men's hoodie, nice and oversized and snuggly) and a new tee. The queue proved to be the exact length of time I needed to finish my latest book, timed to perfection just I finished the last page. Then it was hopping into a cab for the launch of the S/S collection of Bitching & Junkfood at Urban Outfitters, where I drank my beer too fast and got intimidated by the gaggles of 20 year olds that made me feel really ancient.

By the time I got home it was almost 10, but oh boy, was it nice to return to a house that smells lovely and looks fresh as a daisy.

On The Attack

A ring shaped like a meat tenderiser. Thank you Topshop for allowing me to indulge in my love of big jewellery and feel safe from attackers at the same time.

Apologies for the not so flattering picture of my bottom - it's all in the aid of trying to demonstrate the back detail of the sweater.

Versus T Shirt

The only problem with being a bit of a t shirt addict is having to cover them up with a jumper in this cold and dreary weather. Come on spring, you're wanted!
