Star Gazing With Christopher Kane

My next DIY project will be turning this halter neck maxi dress, that I picked up in the Oasis sale, into a skirt. It will involve some pruning and sewing, two things I'm not great at, but I think it will be worth it to make this into a decent 'tribute' to the Christopher Kane 2010 resort Galaxy print collection.

New Editor in Chief at Paris Vogue

Congratulations to Emmanuelle Alt. She has been appointed Editor in Chief of Paris Vogue following Carine Roitfeld's resignation. I am looking forward to a magazine under Emmanuelle's vision because I must confess I find her totally bad ass sexy imagery much more appealing and challenging than Carine's sexy, have I shocked you yet? editorials. 

This is my favourite editorial by Emmanuelle Alt - Fur Play. It features Raquel Zimmerman, was photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin and appeared in Paris Vogue November 2009. 

STUFF

I am feeling a little bit uninspired outfit wise, and (let's face it) a bit fat after Christmas. Wearing clothes is never as much fun when you feel uncomfortable in them. Luckily, training for April's London Marathon means this feeling won't last too long. But still, I'm not sure why I do it myself every year.  

So in lieu of an outfit post I've gone close up crazy with my new camera again. Soon I'll invest in a tripod and start taking fancy new pics - maybe even moving from my preferred location of my 2nd floor stairs...

My next nail polish project - am thinking either a green french mani / pedi or a one of each scenario with a camel colour that must be located asap. 

Whistles Skirt - a great graphic animal print that I can't wait to wear with clashing prints of various persuasions. 

My bangle drawer - Marc Jacobs, Chanel, New Look, Charity shop among others. I used to be a bangle wearer, never leaving the house without some on (okay, piled on like a trollop jangling down the street), but since getting my Chanel J12 watch 3 years ago they don't look right on my arm any more and I worry about them chipping the ceramic.

Why so serious?

Ah. Back at work. If, like me, you need a pick me up then I offer you a selection of utterly stupid but totally fabulous bags that will raise a smile and hopefully lift your mood. One of the things I love about fashion is how silly it can be - there's room for a whacking great gonk bag and an elegant chiffon dress. Because you can be funny and care about your appearance at the same time (although someone should probably tell this to Sarah Silverman's and Tina Fey's stylists).

STUDIO 54

This is my "Were these a good idea at £20?" face. The answer is - HELL YES. They are so 70's glam I can hardly take it. And I'm not usually the Studio 54 kind of gal. 

There's a Studio 54 hairdressers in Hammersmith. I always see it and my heart drops - what could be less Studio 54 than a crappy hairdressers on Fulham Palace Road? I dread to think what Andy Warhol would think of it. Or if any clients have ever come along for an appointment on a white horse. Unlikely.
