JUBILEE WEEKEND

As Henry Holland's TWENTY FIVE POUND tea towel says...I'm pretty excited about the impending Jubilee celebrations.

London is looking amazing with bunting everywhere and tomorrow when the flotilla goes down the Thames I'm sure the throngs of people will cancel out the need for sun (a good thing really, as it's forecast to rain the entire time).

I've been buying Royal tat like it's going out of fashion. I'll post with more detail later...but this jumper from Joy is probably my fave. I've been cooking up a storm so I'm not sure my nails are up for it but I might even try and bust out the Union Jack nail art too.

DID I JUST BUY A GOK WAN DRESS?

One of my favourite purchases over the past couple of months has been this dress from...whisper it...the Gok Wan range for Tu at Sainsburys.

For a mere £35 I found a dress that is flattering, easy to wear, has a great print and doesn't crease when you put it in a suitcase. Oh, and it has pockets. I'm not usually a fan of Gok and his underwear-as-the-foundation-of-an-outfit philosophy (hello, Spanx? For a big do maybe, but daily life can't happen when you wear the bleeders) but in this case his dress design is a hero piece for my wardrobe.

TIME AND BATHROOM OUTFIT SHOTS

I don't know where time goes these days. I don't seem to have time to blog, I never go to the cinema, my magazines go unread, supermarkets are exotic places that get visited once every three weeks or so. It doesn't feel like other commitments and interests have taken over in their place, so I can't explain my current predicament. I am, however, clearly still shopping. Some things never change...

MARKUS LUPFER JUMPER

Markus Lupfer is right up my street. It is quite clear that I could never say 'No' to a jumper with a sequin pattern of a cat and dog in a Christmas style wreath, right?

NEW YORK BUYS

First off I must tell you the momentous news... I DID NOT GO TO BARNEY'S. Really. I didn't. In fact for me I didn't shop that much, despite still returning home with two full bags. One bag was actually full of M&Ms, nuts, goji berries, cereal bars and agave nectar so that doesn't count, right? Not all the thrift stores on the Upper East Side were open but enough for me to get a couple of goodies that I was chuffed to bits with. I also went to J Crew for the first time (woah, overpriced much?) and had a quick whizz mostly around the accessories of H&M and F21 which we of course have in England but always seems to stock stuff that sells out in seconds back home. Clearly we have different tastes across the pond. It's a win win shopping situation for me.

GOLD ZARA OXFORDS

My Mum talked me out of buying these Zara shoes when they were full price but luckily they were featured in the sale so I picked these up for less than £30 around Christmas time. They are the kind of shoe that invite comments. Taxi drivers say they pulled over for me because the gold flashes caught their eye, strangers in supermarkets tell you they love them and they even seem to steer on the right side of kooky cool for the guys at the office who haven't fallen about laughing at them. At least not to my face.

NEW YORK WEEKEND PHOTO DIARY

Whistle stop trip to NY last weekend to see G, visit the Joaquin Sorolla and the Art of Spanish Dress exhibition at the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute, hit the charity shops and run some in Central Park.

It all went pretty well apart from the bit before the plane had even taken off on Friday night when a bag fell on my head from the overhead lockers. Turns out they do injure people. I had, and still have, whiplash from that one incident over a week ago now. I am all glamour.
