CHRISTOPHER KANE NEON DRESS

I finally got around to picking up my Christopher Kane dress I ordered last year and popped it on the minute I got home to check it fitted (phew, it did). I've got to say, I just LOVE it, it's more perfect that I could have ever imagined - the high neckline and half length sleeves give it just the right amount of primness, and in my mind a dress this bright needs that staid factor. The only problem with it is underwear, even with a nude M&S no VPL thong on it's still visible. What do you reckon? A slip? An underwear hunt of epic proportions? Or a more dangerous for the modesty, but much easier solution?

SUMMER EXHIBITION

I went to the Royal Academy to see the Summer Exhibition today. Didn't buy any art, but did manage to prevent my Dad from buying any more naked women to put on the walls (as per my Mother's orders). Did spend £21 on two glasses of champagne. They clearly saw me coming, didn't they?

WEDDING DRESSING

I went to a friend's wedding yesterday and left dressing until about 15 minutes before leaving the house. It was a case of finding a roomy enough dress to allow for comfortable eating (a good thing too, the food was a hog roast and tons of cheese from Neal's Yard Dairy, hmmm) with shoes I could still catch the bus in. Then it was just take air dried hair down, juj it up a bit, a slick of Nars lip crayon and I was out the door.

A HAPPY STORAGE STORY

Last weekend I got around to sorting out my jewellery or, to be exact, I found a storage system that would allow me to sort my jewellery into it. Instead of having all my rings bundled into a big glass jar so you can neither see nor access them, they are now in satisfying perspex drawers with compartments for each ring. Oversized rings have their own mega drawer so as not be left out.

This simple exercise has meant that finding a little extra something for an outfit in the morning rush is so much easier.

HOLLY FULTON CLOUD DRESS

I bought this dress in Bicester at the British Designer Collective store that ran for about six weeks earlier this year. I feel a bit like I'm wearing a cartoon in dress form, a cross between Super Mario and Hello Kitty.

It's such a STATEMENT in and of itself that it's quite a difficult dress to accessorise. I haven't found the perfect combination amongst my many shoes yet, but for now these cheap as chips ($12) wedges will do. I think the strong shoulder line rules out anything too sleek on the feet. It's got to big and chunky.

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD SQUIGGLE PRINT

It might have been years since Vivienne Westwood first introduced the squiggle print, but it still works for me. Someone today commented that it looked like an African fabric print, by which I guess they meant bright and bold. In this colour way the pattern toes the line between garish and classic, an aesthetic I'm all in favour of - you won't get overlooked walking down the road in this top (at least not in the sea of grey / navy / black that is commuter Britain). Plus anyone I'm with can see where I've gone when I wander off in search of something new and shiny in the supermarket (one of my worst habits).

The other bonus about liking colourful, slightly batty prints, is that they tend to be in the sale because the majority of the population would prefer something a little more safe. I think this Queen Viv top only cost about £60 at the very tail end of the sale in Urban Outfitters. Score.

MISMATCHED

What is is about me and silk / dry clean only tops, that I seem to drop the entire contents on my lunch or dinner down them before the day is up? Perhaps I should try and make the bib happen as a fashion item.

On a happier note, these Zara trousers are totally ace, super comfy and pleasingly cropped. So half my outfit was a win.
